TDEE Calculator
Enter your details and activity level to calculate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure — the calories you burn in an average day, including exercise and movement.
Your calculation is performed in your browser. This result is an estimate for informational and educational purposes. It isn’t a diagnosis and isn’t a substitute for advice from a doctor, registered dietitian, or other qualified professional. See our methodology and sources for the formula used and its limitations.
How it works
The calculator first estimates your Basal Metabolic Rate using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, then multiplies it by an activity factor that reflects how much you move and exercise in a typical week, giving your total daily calorie burn.
Formula & methodology
TDEE = BMR × activity multiplier, where the multiplier ranges from 1.2 (sedentary) to 1.9 (extremely active).
Worked example
A person with a BMR of 1,600 calories who is moderately active (multiplier 1.55) has a TDEE of about 2,480 calories per day.
Important notes
- —This is your estimated maintenance calorie level — eating roughly this amount should keep your weight stable over time.
- —To target weight loss or gain instead, use the Calorie Calculator, which applies a goal-based adjustment on top of TDEE.
