The calculator compares the year, month, and day of your birth date with the selected calculation date (today, by default). It counts full years first, then full months left over, then full days left over, the same way you would count on a calendar.
Formula & methodology
Years, months, and days are found using calendar subtraction: full years are counted first, then remaining months, then remaining days, borrowing from the previous month or year exactly as calendar counting requires.
Worked example
If you were born on March 15, 2000 and calculate your age on September 13, 2026, you are 26 years, 5 months, and 29 days old — 9,678 total days.
Important notes
- —Leap-year birthdays (February 29) are handled precisely in the underlying day count.
- —You can calculate your age as of any past or future date, not just today.
